Finances gear · lever check
One Percent, One Day, One Person
Eleven levers, in the units your business already runs on. Move each one as far as you could really move it and watch what happens. Every slider stops where your own numbers stop — you cannot take fifteen points off ten points of unbilled time, and you cannot fill three seats when two are empty. Where a slider has room is where you have room. Two answers, kept apart: what repeats every year, and what you get back once.
Section 01
Your business, as it runs now
Section 02
What we are costing it at
These are yours to set. There are no industry averages built into this page, because an average is not your business and a number you did not choose is a number you will not defend in your own boardroom. Leave one blank and the lever it prices simply reads zero and tells you what it needs.
Every year, for as long as you hold it
Move these and they repeat
All eight, as you have them set
Once, into the bank
Move these and the money comes back
All three, as you have them set
Do not add these two numbers together
The first is a flow. It arrives every year you keep the change, and it stops the year you stop holding it. The second is a stock. It comes back once, when money that was sitting still starts moving, and it does not come back a second time. Added together they describe a business that does not exist. Read as two, they answer two different questions: what is this worth to me, and where do I find the money to do it.
